AF
Assured Forwarding
AF is a forwarding policy defined within the IntServ (Integrated Services) architecture. AF is based on the probability that packets will not be dropped or delayed within the network. Packets classified within a certain stream are also allocated one of three drop rates. That is, if the network becomes congested, those with the lowest priority (highest drop rate) will be discarded. Consequently some packets within the stream will have a higher probability of being delivered than others.
