Carrier to Interference Ratio
Adjacent and cochannel interference, along with noise and background effects all detract from the potential quality of the received signal. The effects of this interference are quantized using the CIR. This is a comparison of C (carrier signal) to the (I) Interference expressed as a ratio C/I.
