DMZ
De-Militarized Zone
This can be described as the area between two opposing forces which is not used by either side and has been stripped of any cover in order to avoid penetration attempts by either side. In network security terms the DMZ refers to the area within a firewall architecture where internal company networks are separated from publicly accessible servers, such as Web servers etc.
