Introduction to IP Engineering
Key Information
Prerequisites:
A basic understanding of IP networks and applications is useful but not essential
Outline and Objectives:
The design and implementation of service provider IP networks is very different to conventional IP design because of the scale, complexity and interconnect issues it presents. This course addresses the architectural principles, the key services, and the design and implementation issues involved in building public IP networks which achieve manageability, stability and scalability.
Who Should Attend:
Suitable for cross-training engineers and staff in engineering, operations, product management or technical sales roles.
Course Contents:
- The Different Types of IP Networks
- IP Fundamentals: Addressing, QoS and Bandwidth
- Integrating IP and L2 Protocols: IP over ATM, IP over MPLS, IP over Ethernet
- IP in Mobile Networks: GPRS, HSPA and Beyond
- IP in Next Generation Networks: Legacy Applications over IP
- Public Networks Services: DHCP, DNS, ICMP, ENUM
- Applications: Email, WWW, VPNs, VoIP
- Security in Public IP Networks: DoS, DDoS and countermeasures
