ITU-T
International Telecommunications Union-Telecommunication Standardization Sector
The ITU-T is an international body that develops worldwide standards for telecommunications technologies. These standards are grouped together in series which are prefixed with a letter indicating the general subject and a number specifying the particular standard. For example, X.25 comes from the ?X? series which deals with data networks and open system communications and number ?25? deals with packet switched networks. The ITU-T was formally known as the CCITT (Consultative Committee for International Telegraphy and Telephony).
