MPLS
Multi Protocol Label Switching
Multi Protocol Label Switching has been developed to speed up the transmission of IP (Internet Protocol) based communications over ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode) networks. The system works by adding a much smaller ?label? to a stream of IP datagrams allowing ?MPLS? enabled ATM switches to examine and switch the packet much faster.
