Proxy Mobile IP
Applications for Mobile IP such as WiMAX and CDMA2000 networks use a technique termed Proxy MIP. Proxy MIP introduces a MAG (Mobility Access Gateway) into the Mobile IP architecture which interacts with the HA, termed a LMA (Local Mobility Anchor)in Proxy MIP parlance, on behalf of the Mobile Node. With PMIP, the use of MIP in the network is transparent to the mobile device.
