Wireless Local Area Network
This is a generic term covering a multitude of technologies providing local area networking via a radio link. Examples of WLAN technologies include Wi-Fi (Wireless Fidelity), 802.11b and 802.11a, HiperLAN, Bluetooth, IrDA (Infrared Data Association) and DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) etc.
